Sanur makes a good sober base when you want a slower beach rhythm without feeling cut off from meetings, food and ordinary daily life. The coast faces east, the beachfront path is easy to use on foot and the area has current AA and NA options.
This Monday itinerary uses the open 9:00 am Living Sober AA meeting at Seagrass by the Beach and the 7:00 pm Real Dope NA meeting at Cafe Neun. Both were checked against the official fellowship directories on 17 July 2026. Recheck the AA Bali directory and NA Bali directory on the day, and attend the fellowship and meeting type that are appropriate for you.
5:45 am — watch the sun rise over Sanur Beach
Sanur is one of the easiest Bali areas for an early coastal walk. Start near the part of the beach closest to your accommodation and use the pedestrian path rather than turning sunrise into a cross-island expedition.
Walk, sit with a coffee or write for a few minutes while the day begins. The water can look gentle, but tide, weather and local conditions still matter. Swim only where and when it is safe for your ability.
7:00 am — breakfast, prayer and a plan
Return to your accommodation, shower and eat a proper breakfast. Pray, meditate, journal or read recovery literature. Send a message to a sponsor or fellow and confirm both meeting locations before the day becomes busy.
Save the Seagrass and Cafe Neun map pins and arrange transport if you are not staying within an easy walk. The venues are both in Sanur, but leaving a margin is better than arriving stressed.
9:00 am — morning AA at Seagrass by the Beach
The Monday Living Sober AA meeting is currently listed as open and held on the second floor at Seagrass by the Beach. Arrive about 10 minutes early and ask quietly if you are unsure which stairs or room to use.
If it is your first meeting on the island, say hello to one person. You do not have to share in the meeting, but letting someone know you are visiting makes it easier to ask what is happening later in the week.
10:15 am — coffee or brunch with the fellowship
If people are going for coffee or food, join them. Sanur's quieter pace makes it easy to sit at a table without immediately moving to the next activity. Fellowship grows through these simple conversations as much as it does during the formal hour.
Ask which Sanur meetings are most current, whether the evening venue has any special access instructions and who you can contact if plans change.
11:30 am — walk or cycle the beachfront path
Sanur has a long paved coastal path used for walking, jogging and cycling. Pick one direction, move at an easy pace and stop when you have had enough. There is no need to cover the whole waterfront or turn a recovery day into an endurance challenge.
If you hire a bicycle, check the brakes, ride slowly around pedestrians and use extra care where the path narrows or meets hotel and beach access. A beach walk is the better option when you are tired, distracted or unfamiliar with cycling in Bali.
1:00 pm — lunch and a quiet hour
Choose a proper lunch near the beach or around central Sanur, then get out of the midday heat. Rest, read or return to the hotel. A quiet hour protects the evening and prevents the familiar holiday mistake of arriving at a meeting hungry, dehydrated and irritable.
Sanur has plenty of hospitality venues where alcohol is available. You do not have to avoid every restaurant, but you can choose a simple table, order food and leave if the atmosphere starts working against the day you planned.
3:00 pm — choose culture, movement or rest
Pick one option:
- Visit Museum Le Mayeur, the former Sanur home of Belgian painter Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur and Ni Pollok, now a government-managed specialist art museum. Check the current opening arrangements before going.
- Have a gym session, yoga class or swim at a facility near your accommodation.
- Book a massage and leave enough time to shower and reach the evening meeting.
- Continue along a different section of the beachfront path on foot.
- Do nothing. Sit by the pool, call someone or take a nap.
The useful choice is the one that leaves you present for the second half of the day.
5:30 pm — early dinner and a meeting check
Eat before the evening meeting or make a clear dinner plan for afterwards. Recheck the official NA listing, charge your phone and head toward Cafe Neun without trying to squeeze in sunset somewhere else.
If NA is not the fellowship you attend, use the current Bali meeting directory and official fellowship listings to choose a suitable evening alternative or online meeting. Do not attend a closed meeting that is not appropriate for you simply to complete an itinerary.
7:00 pm — evening NA at Cafe Neun
The Monday Real Dope NA meeting is currently listed at Cafe Neun, Jl. Duyung No. 9, as an English-language topic meeting. Arrive early enough to find the space and introduce yourself if you are visiting.
Beginning and ending the active part of the day with fellowship changes the shape of the hours between. The sunrise, museum, exercise and food become part of a connected sober life rather than distractions you are using to get through the day alone.
8:15 pm — dinner, gratitude and tomorrow's plan
Go for dinner with the fellows if people are gathering. Otherwise, choose somewhere close to your accommodation and call one person before bed.
Write down what worked, thank God for the day if prayer is part of your life and choose tomorrow's meetings now. Sanur does not need to be exciting at night to be a good place to recover. Its strength is that a beautiful day can still feel ordinary, grounded and repeatable.
