Uluwatu can give you a huge sober day—cliffs, surf, training, cold water, good food and a sunset—but distance and traffic make structure important. On Wednesdays, start with the current 9:00 am open AA meeting and finish with the 7:00 pm NA meeting at the same Ungasan venue.

6:00 am — wake up near the ocean
Walk at Thomas Beach, Padang Padang or along the coast nearest your accommodation. The Bukit is spread out, so the best sunrise plan is usually the one that does not begin with a 40-minute ride.
Have a coffee and watch the water. If you intend to surf later, look at the conditions rather than assuming yesterday’s ocean is still there.
7:00 am — pray, journal and stretch
Back at the hotel, pray, journal, meditate and stretch. Confirm transport to the meeting and allow time to find the second floor.
Uluwatu makes it easy to feel healthy. Recovery asks for something more specific: honesty, connection and turning up.
9:00 am — morning AA in Ungasan
The Wednesday Topic Discussion meeting is currently held at Hygge Cafe, second floor, on Jl. Raya Uluwatu in Ungasan. It is listed as open.
Arrive early, introduce yourself and ask whether people are having breakfast or coffee. The fellowship on the Bukit includes local residents, surfers, travellers and people working online, and the conversation often carries on after the formal meeting ends.
10:15 am — breakfast with the fellowship
Say yes to breakfast. Uluwatu can be socially scattered because everyone lives on a different road or cliff. The meal after the meeting is where the geography stops mattering.
11:30 am — train and recover
The Bukit now has serious fitness options. Choose a gym session, mobility class or yoga, then use a sauna, ice bath or pool if available. Current examples include ELEMNT near Dreamland and Muscle Beach Club, both of which list training and recovery facilities.
Do not book three wellness experiences. One strong session, enough water and lunch is better than exhausting yourself before the evening meeting.
2:00 pm — lunch
Eat somewhere between the gym and your afternoon activity. Uluwatu roads can turn a simple plan into a loop, so group the day by area.
3:00 pm — choose one must-see Uluwatu experience
- Uluwatu Temple: walk the cliffside grounds, dress respectfully and watch the monkeys around loose belongings. Visit early enough to leave for the 7:00 pm meeting.
- Padang Padang Beach: take the narrow stair access and enjoy the cliffs and sand. The famous surf can be powerful; beginners should use professional local guidance and a suitable break.
- Suluban Beach and cave: a dramatic place to watch experienced surfers and explore the viewpoint. Check tide and access conditions.
- Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park: the easiest major cultural stop when you want to stay closer to Ungasan.
- Padel: book a social game or lesson; Island Padel Uluwatu is one current option.
The Kecak performance at Uluwatu Temple normally begins around 6:00 pm, which conflicts with the Wednesday evening meeting. See it on another day. Recovery gets the best time in the diary first; tourism fits around it.
7:00 pm — evening NA in Ungasan
Return to Hygge Cafe for the current Wednesday Nirmala NA meeting. Same building, different room energy, same essential act of showing up.
AA and NA are distinct fellowships. Attend meetings that fit your recovery and respect each group’s access guidance. If this pair is not appropriate, use the current directory to plan a different morning/evening combination or an online meeting.
8:15 pm — dinner with the fellowship
Go for dinner with whoever is heading out. The Bukit looks glamorous from a cliff, but sober life here is built around ordinary things: sharing a table, giving someone a lift, checking in and making a plan for tomorrow.
9:30 pm — thank God and put the day down
Pray and thank God for a beautiful day. Write tomorrow’s meeting plan, charge the phone, set the alarm and sleep.
