The best sober day in Seminyak starts and ends with a meeting. On Wednesdays, the current AA schedule makes that simple: 9:00 am and 7:00 pm at the RUKO “Just for Today” building on Jl. Drupadi No. 12.

The times were checked on 17 July 2026. Check again on the day, and make sure the morning closed meeting is appropriate for you.

6:00 am — wake up and walk on the beach

Get to Seminyak Beach while the sand is quiet and the day is still cool. Walk without turning it into a workout. Watch the surf, have a coffee and let Bali wake up around you.

This is one of the gifts of sober life here: an ordinary Wednesday morning can be genuinely beautiful, and you are present enough to see it.

7:00 am — return to the hotel and get centred

Pray, journal, meditate and stretch. Read the day’s recovery literature. Send a quick message to a sponsor or fellow if that is part of your programme.

Do not let coffee, the beach or a wellness routine become a prettier substitute for recovery. The first appointment that matters is the meeting.

9:00 am — morning AA at the RUKO

The Wednesday Big Book Study is currently listed as closed. Arrive a little early and head into the RUKO at Jl. Drupadi No. 12. If it is your first visit, tell someone at the door; people will help you find the room and settle in.

The RUKO is more than a pin on a map. It is one of the places where Bali fellowship becomes real: visitors sit beside people who live here, familiar faces notice newcomers and plans for coffee or food begin before everyone has left the building.

10:15 am — brunch with the fellows

Go for brunch with the group. They will usually be happy to invite you to join, especially if you introduce yourself rather than disappearing as soon as the meeting closes.

Recovery friendships are built in these unremarkable hours—coffee, breakfast, a lift home, someone remembering your name—not only during shares in the room.

12:00 pm — train and recover at Soham

Have a gym session at Soham Wellness Center, then use the hot and cold pools, steam and sauna. Swim some laps if your body feels good. You do not have to punish yourself to have a strong day; train, recover, hydrate and leave with energy for the evening.

Soham is the full wellness option, not the only gym. Faster Than Light is another local favourite when you want a straightforward training session. Pick the facility that fits the day rather than crossing town for a brand name.

3:00 pm — have a proper lunch

Do not let the day become coffee, protein shakes and good intentions. Sit down for lunch. Bali traffic and heat feel very different when you are tired and underfed.

4:00 pm — shop, explore or slow down

Choose one:

  • Browse the independent shops around Seminyak and Petitenget.
  • Play padel. It is one of the most popular social activities around Seminyak, with clubs such as Liga.Tennis Padel Seminyak offering games, classes, a pool and an ice bath.
  • Visit Petitenget Temple respectfully and follow the dress requirements at the entrance.
  • Return to the beach for a swim only if conditions are safe.
  • Book a massage or go back to the hotel for an hour of quiet.

Sunset venues can become drinking environments quickly. You do not need to prove anything. A beach walk, a coconut and enough time to reach the meeting calmly is a better plan.

7:00 pm — evening AA at the RUKO

The Wednesday Topic Discussion meeting is currently listed as open. Come back to the same place where the recovery part of the day began.

Two meetings are not wasted holiday time. They are the bookends that let you enjoy the beach, gym, food and city without losing the centre of the day.

8:00 pm — dinner with the fellowship

Go where the group goes. The table may include people who have lived in Bali for years, someone passing through for 3 days and someone attending their first meeting on the island. That mixture is part of what makes recovery here special.

9:30 pm — pray and give thanks

Back at the hotel, pray and thank God for a beautiful day. Review where you were useful, what needs attention and which meetings you will attend tomorrow. If prayer is not your practice, write a gratitude list and call someone before sleep.

10:00 pm — sleep, then do it again

Go to bed. Wake up and build another day the same way: meeting first, life in the middle, meeting again.
